Mary's parents have been given as both James & Sarah (Skillington) Berry and Benjamine & Eleanor (Williams) Berry.
However, neither of these seem likely. James and Sarah are a well documented, prominant family way
north of Prince George's County, accross the Chesapeake Bay with no evidense of a daughter named Mary, and
Benjamine and Eleanor had a daughter named Mary who married Josias Marshall, not William MacKnew. There were
a number of Berry families in the Prince George's County area so it seems likely that a local Berry couple has
yet to be identified.
